The wifi tests at the full 10Mbps up and 10Mbps down that my internet connection is capable of hooked up to the same tv and using the same router and settings that my equiso couldn't manage over 1Mbps on. The display can be set to a 1080p but I use 720 because 1080 makes the icons too small for me. The overall difference in performance is obvious from the benchmark results. The first picture is from the GK802 straight out of the box with no modifications, the second is the best result I ever had from the equiso.

@Niko: Devious told us in post 45 - Geekbuying, $100.

@Devious: Besides running benchmarks, does the GK802 run Android apps smoothly?

RE: Equiso alternatives
Still haven't received the pro equiso i paid for.... .... reading backers frustration.....

I planned to get myself those Chinese MK802,MK808 which are much more stable....

Saw many videos on youtube people playing with those and so smooth... people playing onlive using there xbox controller connected to mini android... no lag nothing....

they ever ported ubuntu in mk802.....called picUntu... LINK

Also you can control the device using android app MK802III, so no need of extra wireless remote...

Now I found many models but still confused which one to buy...

There is a brand (Rikomagic) They got three models.. MK802II , MK 802III, MK802IIIS
the latest MK802IIIS is by far the best.

but now there is another MK808, which i am confused with. those have Rockchip RK3066 processors. Some are saying that MK808 is the undated version of MK802III.

Here are the product links:
MK808 Dual-core Android 4.1TV Box Cortex A9 RK3066 1GB DRR3+8GB Nand Flash

Rikomagic 4th MK802 IIIS 8GB Dual Core CPU Android 4.1.1 Mini PC WiFi TV Box HD

I need advice which one to get... which one has good community support and can be easily rooted for customization.

Thanks
Niko

I got the Rikomagic MK802 IIIs (without bluetooth) yesterday and I'm pretty surprised. It works very smooth, apps start quick. I did not make any further tests like video streaming so far but the first impression is very good compared to the standard equiso model. To my surprise even the equiso remote works on this device, only some buttons seem to not work or be mapped (like the app drawer button). The Keyboard works as good as on the equiso.

RE: Equiso alternatives
Does somebody knows if the Equiso remote works on the GK802 without having to connect the Bluetooth USB dongle?

RE: Equiso alternatives
@testing123: The dongle is not Bluetooth, the Equiso remote only works with that particular dongle, as far as I know.

Its not a Bluetooth dongle. Its a 2.4Ghz transceiver that runs near the CH9 specturm.

See my other post:

Also, the USB 2.4Ghz transceiver will work on just about anything. You can plug it into your windows computer if you like or another android stick. It will work for the most part.
