No AC3 audio with HW decoder?

No AC3 audio with HW decoder?
I've been playing around with a bunch of video (mostly over various network connections: CIFS, DLNA, etc.), and although I'm generally pretty happy with the video quality, I can't seem to get AC3 audio to play with the built-in HW decoder. SW decoding isn't acceptable for any HD video.

If I use MX, I can specifically select SW decoding for just the audio, which works, but seems to be a touch out of sync.

The issue seems to be consistent across a number of different players, including the built-in one, moboplayer, mx, etc.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

I have the same problem. I have not found any video player which possible use HW AC3. I am very surprised. Smart TV without HW AC3 decoder?. Huh HD videos don't work.
Best results with MX & SW audio Angry

RE: No AC3 audio with HW decoder?
I searched for Mali 400 GPU and could only find the following. Doesn't seem that it supports AC3 in hardware.
  • Mali 400 GPU, 30MTri/s, 256Mpix/s, OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0
  • Decoder: MPEG4/H.263 720p@30fps; H.264 WVGA@30fps; VP8 WVGA@30fps
  • Encoder: H.263/H.264/MPEG4 WVGA@30fps
  • Video Streaming: MPEG4/H.263/H.264 WVGA@30fps
  • 3G-324M Video Telephony
  • 5 MP camera sub-system JPEG decoder/encoder (32MP/s)
  • Supports MP3/AAC/AAC+/MIDI/AMR-NB/WAV format
  • Audio codec included

RE: No AC3 audio with HW decoder?
Hey guys, have you tried Diceplayer? I was trying to play an MKV with the stock player last night and had no sound but when I tried Diceplayer it worked perfectly. I'm not 100% on the audio encoding but it's worth a shot right?

A similar product (Tizzbird N1 - Chipset A5, GPU mali-400 like Equiso) can decode dts, ac3, dts-hd ... Their products can watch 3d mkv files. How's Equiso stick?

I tried .mts files. This files are H264 + AAC and works with MX & SW audio but not fine. If you use HW for audio and video, the video works fine, but you have not audio.

Have you tried Diceplayer? It worked for me last night. Try it.
