Is anybody NOT disappointed with their Standard Equiso?

Is anybody NOT disgusted with the support they get from Equiso?

You CAN do something about it! Get a better Android media player, from a company with real customer support, maybe even for a similar price!

After reading so many posts here with titles like "Disappointed in performance" and "Doesn't work", I thought it would be useful to expose the Equiso for what it is - a half-baked attempt to cash in on the flourishing market for inexpensive media players based mostly on the Android operating system.

And there are so many alternatives, mostly flowing from the creative developers in Southern China (Shenzhen). That is where my Equiso alternative comes from - it's the Diamond Multimedia AMP1000. It's a set-top box, not a stick, so it doesn't get hot. It has an actual WiFi antenna, so reception is good. It is a single-core Amlogic 8726 M3 running at 800MHz, so it's not blazing fast. I got it on Amazon in August for $120, although it is actually a re-branded Geniatech ATV1000 from last year. It has an SDHC card slot and two USB ports, so lots of room for expansion. Diamond has a customer support hotline and a ticket tracking database for their products, and I got knowledgeable help when I needed it. Oh, and it is ROOTED!

I am looking forward to my Equiso Pro, but not with great enthusiasm.

I hope in this thread we can share ideas and experiences about better products and better companies that can make our dumb TVs smart!
got refund and booted off equiso.they also removed my facebook posts and all peoples posts that inferred the product was trouble.

they sent me a unit anyway.figured, i'd try it.

the remote and stick are in the garbage.

alternatives,

have ug802 modified antenna

have ainol (tablet) elf II,tad more, but it runs aios xbmc apk

currently have raspberrypi and case ordered for under $55.00 and rspbmc downloaded and installed on an sd card awaiting the arrival.

have 2 apple tv 1,purchased for cheap
Thanks for your input, @salonist.

May I ask, how does the UG802 perform, compared to your Equiso? What do you use for a remote with the UG802?
ug802 modified antenna, used logitech k400.equiso remote did not work with the ug802.

the remote as mentioned does run on windows 7,kinda of.have to keep turning remote on, it shuts itself off.runs rough and with no scroll function, yuk.

modified antenna(probably same now as (ug802+ with 2 antennae),just ran wifi speed test. a project for later.will wait until android xbmc is a bit further along.

survey says, did you garbage your equiso or are you holding onto it hoping that god will intervene.
My vote would go to a device similar to the MK808. Anything less then this at the moment probably runs like crap unless your looking for a one trick pony which most of us are not. Most of us are looking to use our android sticks as PC/Laptop replacements for a media center.

Here is a site with a "small" but up-to-date selection of alternatives to Equiso:

Lots of info on each player, so you should be able to choose wisely.

@salonist:

I hope you are happier with your UG802 than the folks posting here:

"seriously who can still trust in a manufacturer whos product was realeased not even 2 months ago and who doesnt seem to give a s**t about that 8 weeks old device with all its flaws and bugs!? rushing out one unstable device after another? who cares about having a maybe half working bluetooth when not even the simpliest task of playing a movie can be done on this piece of plastic???
i know you're only selling the gear but all future customers should be warned about the fact that instead fixing the already released hardware for a minimum of usage they are still pushing new gear with same and/or new bugs. at least i have already lost faith in that manufacturer, even i know there should be a new firmware for ug802 "soon", which i strongly doubt will fix any issue besides having a new android base and maybe new bugs. teach me better ugoos!!!"

Jay

You're a tough one -- here's the situation: We launched as a Kickstarter project - from there we were able to build a Beta Standard Model. Of course it was going to be buggy - we said that from the get go. The Beta model was not going to be a true to life version --- it was our 1st product and a way to gauge what need improvement etc. Since then we have pushed a beta firmware update that has resolved several issues.

We are working hard on the Pro model and truly believe that you (even though you are a tough customer) will be happy with the product. If not I am sure we will hear from you right away -- Our focus is on building the best product on the market and nailing the hardware from the start -- software is much more simple as we are able to push frequent updates.

Don't worry Jay -- we are building the Pro with you in mind.

Best,

Jeanine (Equiso Co-founder)
I was unaware from the KS project that the initial version was considered beta, and that the pro is the final product.

Same here....I missed that somewhere and I have 2 of the standard "beta" models! I was trying to be patient and wait for the bugs to be worked out....Does that mean that there is not hope for the standards??
