So, as said back here on my review of testing equiso, I found out how to program our Equiso's Remote to control our TV's using it's (hidden) second function: Infrared (IR)
If you haven't noticed the Remote has three LED: two on the back (one red and one blue) and one on the top (blue).

The two on the back (it's written in the wiki page too) are:
- The red LED indicates that the Equiso's Remote is being charged
- The blue LED can indicate:
  • - the Remote is fully charged
  • - a button is being pressed on the front side while in RF (Radio Frequency) Mode.
The blue LED on the top of the remote, near the IR diode indicates that a button is pressed while in IR Mode or the power button in pressed in any mode.

Programming the Remote in IR Mode:

It doesn't work like an universal tv remote. This one needs to "learn" each button you want to set, one by one.

Most likely everyone has it's remote set in RF Mode. So, let's start.
  1. Switch your Remote from RF Mode to IR mode. You need to press and hold the Power Button and the MenĂ¹ button (the one on the right of the Home Button), wait until the IR Function LED blinks twice.
  2. Take your TV Remote and put it head to head to the Equiso's Remote.
  3. Set the Equiso's Remote in Programming Mode. Press and hold the Power Button and the Home Button togheter. The IR Function LED will dim a little bit for a few seconds and then will stay on.
  4. On the Equiso's Remote, press the button you want it to learn. Now the IR Function LED will start blinking.
  5. On the TV's Remote, press the button you want to teach it. Now the IR Function LED will blink faster for 3 times and then it'll come back on.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for all buttons you want.
  7. Now stop the Programming Mode. Press the Power Button and Home Button again once. The IR Function LED will turn off.
If you want to erase one button's function repeat first 4 steps. On the fourth press the button you want to erase and wait until the IR Function LED stops blinking. (It'll blink for 16 times). Now that button doesn't have a function.
Then, to get back to the RF Mode and use the Remote with the USB receiver just repeat step 1.
If you get confused and don't know what Mode the Remote is on, just press a button and check which blue LED turns on. If it is the one on the top, you're in IR Mode. If it is the one on the back means you're in RF Mode.

p.s. Unfortunately the Power Button can't be programmed like the others, somehow... and I still haven't figured out how to set it.

I hope you find this guide useful. Well at least you, because I don't even need it's IR function Big Grin
Wow this is mind blowing, I didnt know we can teach remote using another remote haha, this is interesting.
yeah, I can do it success! thanks, but the IR button have fewer buttons Smile

Beat the official guide, well done !!

I'm now wondering if Equiso knew how to do this themselves...
Good news. Thank for share!
Weird thing: My "Power"-button doesn't do anything BUT lighting up the IR-LED when pressed.
I guess the "Power"-button should put the Equiso to standby, or shouldn't it?
Also nothing happens when I press the "back" button ...

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Yeah I noticed that. It is what actually made me sure it had an IR function. Technically the power button could be used to wake up the remote AND to power our TV on staying in the RF mode so that we don't need to switch into IR mode. But still I haven't found a solution yet.
Hi

Great guide @JohnnyCau

Unfortutately, I have the same problem from this thread

http://www.equisoforum.com/Thread-Equiso...-no-cursor

The Equiso works great with the wireless mouse from my computer but can`t detect it's own remote

I followed this instructions and I succeed to set up the IR functions (volume +/- and power on/off) I cleared them and did the whole procedure couple of times (with different buttons). I`m trying to switch form IR to RF mode (according to step 1) but result is just turning the IR functions on and off, no cursor, no nothing appears or happen when it`s suppose to be on RF mode.

So I guess my remote is deffect and I should turn to support@equiso.com for replacement.

Any other suggestions to deal with it ?

Best regards
The power button can be programmed, you simply need to wait a bit longer while the blue led turns off after you programmed it at least i have just programmed my TV tu turn off and off with equiso remote
